Pit bull

Pit bull
Mike was a pit bull,
With a face like squashed-up beef -
His owner washed his coat each day
And polished up his teeth.
"Early in the 20th century,
pit bulls were actually the No. 1 family dog"
mike was a pit bull,
Kept guard behind a gate:
He watched the little children
Without an ounce of hate.
Mike was a pit bull,
He chewed on stainless steel:
The kids all thought mike was nice -
mike though was REAL.
"Dog fighting was outlawed in the early 1900's.
Since that time the breeds that go back to the original 'pit bull'
of the early 1800s has been raised as a family pet, not a fighter."
mike was a pit bull,
Just doing what pit bulls do -
He growled when Johnny hit his head
Then bit his arm clean through.
Mike was a pit bull,
Snarling in a rage,
A wolf in pit bulls clothing
Hid behind his stark eye-cage.
"They have been described as wonderful dogs for children,
therapy providers for the disabled and elderly and less
likely to bite than many other popular breeds."
Mike was a pit bull,
Liked the taste of meat -
Little Johnny’s final scream
Echoed down the street.
Mike was a pit bull,
Pit bulls like to eat;
mike started at his top
And finished at his feet.
"The 'pit bull' does not have a 'locking jaw'."
Mike was a pit bull,
They bashed his head with sticks:
Sticks don’t work on pit bulls
So they finished him off with bricks.
Mike was a pit bull -
His owner came home late:
A silent crowd was waiting
And their eyes were filled with hate.
"known to make wonderful pet
therapy dogs due to their sweet disposition and ability
to remain calm in almost any situation"
The papers ran a story,
How little Johnny died -
It wasn’t for poor Johnny though
That mike's owner cried
"quite a few celebrities who have
owned one of the 'pit bull' breeds
Ray Romano, Don Cherry, Fred Astaire,
President Roosevelt, Jack Dempsey, Madonna,
Michael J Fox, and Usher all own pit bull."
Poor mike Kept guard behind a gate:
He watched the little children
Without an ounce of hate.
